Happy New Year!
I pray that 2012 brings you joy, happiness and love.
Christmas break is almost over and hasn't been without incident........
Steve was sick with a fever and stomach bug before Christmas, the gingerbread house broke before Elizabeth even decorated it, E and I went to Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve and when we got home she had no interest in leaving cookies and milk out for Santa (sigh), the elves are still hanging where they were two weeks ago, the little glimpses of Christmas magic were so hard to find this year.
But, I'm going to try to focus on the good...... Elizabeth loved her big gift (she's going to visit her friend in Arizona in February), my whole family was together on Christmas, Steve was a trooper even though he didn't feel great, we spent a ton of time together.
I'm not making any resolutions this year, well not really. I want to enjoy my family and be more present around the house..... you know, listen when Steve and Elizabeth talk, have more conversations, enjoy them more than I ever have.
When Steve talks about work, it's like listening to a foreign language to me and I know I don't listen the way I should. So, I'm going to start looking at him and really trying to understand what he's saying.
Elizabeth tells me a lot of information..... I'm going to try to listen and retain a lot of what she says. I know, that's a lofty goal for sure!
See, here's how I think..... as wife and mom, I run this household- I do the meal planning, I cook, I clean, I make many of the day to day decisions when it comes to things around my house. I must make it a home and that means being present when interaction is happening and I know I haven't done a great job at that lately.
What about you? Are you making any resolutions this year?

Mine is to be healthier. I started towards that today when I went to the grocery store.
Awe, so sorry to hear Steve wasn't feeling well!!
I hope to see you again in 2012!!!
happy New Year Friend!
Hey there! Nope, no resolutions for me, I don't keep them anyway. So glad you were surrounded with your family and loved ones thru the holidays, and I hope you have a wonderful New Year.
Pssst-I think I have said it before, but everybody needs a mom as good as you :)
Hey SUSAN! Happy 2012 to you and the fam! :) I am sad to hear about the little holiday mishaps...but good for you for remembering all the positives!
I couldn't agree with your last paragraph more...I want to be better at creating a wonderful and happy and inviting and loving (whew!) home life for Hudson and Will....our job is so important!
I made 12 resolutions this year. I usually don't make any. And when I do, I forget them by March. ;) But, this year I put them on the blog...maybe they'll be harder to forget. We'll see!
HAPPY 2012!! xo
Happy New Year! Let's make 2012 the year we FINALLY meet!
Wow sounds like you have a great plan for this coming year! Hope you and your family have many blessing come your way this year!! I am new to your blog. Glad I found it!!
I didn't really make any resolutions this year, except just to try to be "better." I think basically it's what your post is about - I just didn't articulate it as well.
It sounds like you had a pretty good Christmas in spite of a few challenges. It IS harder to find those little signs of Christmas magic as the kids get older. I think they're there...we just have to look for them a bit more!
Happy New Year!
I am not sure, yet! Guess I had better decide as it is already the 5th!
I agree - there is toooooo much to do anyway! :) Focusing on family is most important.
My only real resolution this year is to lose weight and get healthy.
We're planning a beach vacation with hubby's family... I'm not about to hide under a muumuu while my 2 skinny sisters-in-law parade around in bikinis! ;)
