Happy Friday! Yes, I know the day is half over, but I've been busy....... it's sickness season in the old health room....... I'm thinking I need to pull out the gloves and mask when kids come in...... that would be a photo op for sure!
Remember when I told you about the 21 day challenge I've been doing? Every day I eat a green veggie, exercise, log the food I'm eating and stay clear of sugar through the end of the month. Well, I can feel a huge difference in how I'm feeling. I have more energy (yesterday was the first day I took a nap, but I was exhausted) and I've lost an inch in my waist.
I can't tell you how much weight I've lost because I don't weigh myself anymore. Seriously, I haven't stepped on a scale since July. And I have to tell you it's liberating. When my pants are tight, I know I need to real it in..... and right now they are loose. I'm trying to not let a number that pops up on my scale control me anymore.... because when I do weigh myself, I get obsessed about it and I don't want to feel that way. You know what I mean? I get all upset that the number on the scale isn't moving down, but I seem to put aside that my pants are looser and I'm feeling firmer..... so out went the scale.
But, back to my challenge...... What am I doing to workout everyday? I mean, I could run everyday, but I knew I was needing to try new things to supplement my running because my knee has been feeling so tight lately and I knew I was needing to stretch out my muscles while training for the half marathon I'm doing in a few weeks. So, I came up with a schedule.......
Monday- Barre3 dvd
Tuesday- run and weights
Wednesday- yoga
Thursday- run and weights
Friday- Barre3 dvd
Saturday- long run
Sunday- yoga
When this challenge is up, I'm going to stick to this schedule and keep staring clear of sugar until the half..... then go crazy for a couple of days until Lent and give the white, sweet stuff up again.
As far as the weekends are concerned I do my long run on one day and yoga the other depending on weather and family schedule.
Since I added the barre and yoga, the tightness in my knee has almost vanished. Last week on our 9 mile run, I had absolutely no pain. But when we ran 3 miles the other night, it was all tight and stuff again. Crazy, right? Oh, and it used to kinda hurt walking up steps, not anymore. So, a good stretch workout a few times a week is going to stick around.
Are you working out? What are you doing these days to keep in shape?

Wow....you are really convincing me about the DVD...
9 miles....wow! Glad you're feeling energized and pants are loose! That's a good feeling. I always feel so good when I'm doing the right things...just not sure why if I'm feeling good that it's easy for me to slip out of doing the right things?! So frustrating! Anyway, I've been walking/running on treadmill about 4 days a week...and the other day I bought a new ab ball at Target. It came with a dvd...I am enjoying that...well, sort of! :)
Way to go!!
